Areas of Expertise
The first year after graduating Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1979, Dr. Rothschild began his training in fixed orthodontic therapy. He initially took a 2 year course in Philadelphia and have since followed it with numerous 3-day weekend refresher courses. Dr. Rothschild prefers the lighter force Tip Edge technique which does not require uncomfortable head gear for fixed (cemented brackets) orthodontics. The Essix technique is employed for “invisible†removable orthodontics, the latter usually reserved for adults requiring minor orthodontic corrections.
Dr. Rothschild has taken numerous endodontic continuing dental education courses throughout his career. He has studied and participated in lecture and "hands on" classroom workshops emphasizing the latest science and techniues utilized in ultrasonic canal debridements, warm gutta percha compaction techniques and more thorough anesthesia administration, as well as countless hours spent in other various adjunctive endodontic treatment techniques.
Dental Sleep Medicine
Dr. Rothschild is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and has taken several multi-day continuing education courses through this and other educational organizations. Dental treatment using removable jaw repositioning appliances is usually an excellent treatment modality for the alleviation or elimination of sleep disorders due to apnea in mild to moderate cases.
Dr. Rothschild has extensive experience placing esthetic porcelain laminate veneers, crowns and bridges over implants, complex fixed (cemented) and removable dental prosthetics such as crowns and bridges, and placement of truly esthetic fillings.
Dr. Rothschild has held executive positions for two years in the American Academy of Dentistry for Children at Georgetown and once considered a career in pediatric dentistry. The first 4 years after graduation, he found himself fulfilling one of 50 scholarships granted nationwide in the U.S. Public Health Service followed by a stint in the Virginia Department of Health where the majority of my patients were young people. At least 25% of the patients in our practice today are younger than 18 years of age.
Dr. Rothschild has incorporated minor to moderate oral surgery in his practice on a routine basis. Some services offered include non complex extractions of teeth including impactions and 3rd molars (wisdom teeth), placement of dental mini-implants, bone grafting and other various surgical procedures.
Our RDH (Registered Dental Hygienists) team members are not only personable and gentle but also have been involved in their professional field for 25+ years each.
